Aimee Vicencio
Technology Integration Coordinator
Before she came to Beacon, Aimee Gantala Vicencio was very active in the Berkeley chapter of Circle K International (the collegiate level of Kiwanis International). When she started at Beacon in September 2003, she worked as an AmeriCorps Member and led the homework center and cooking workshop. She also helped lead Lunch Bunch with Joe Sullivan at Jean Parker and John Yehall Chin Elementary schools. Now, she works with other staff members and participants to integrate technology into their programs. She’s also working toward securing funds for a mobile lab.
What Aimee likes about Beacon is that everyone is passionate about the work that they do. “I love that I look forward to coming to work each day. The young people make me smile and the staff is great to work with.” Aimee was born on May 16 in National City, California. She went to school in San Diego, California, and then attended college at U. C. Berkeley. After graduating from college, she was a recreation leader at the Emeryville Recreation Department. Her favorite color is gray and her favorite subjects are Cognitive Science courses, especially Linguistics and Education. Aimee really likes having fun with food and tries to set aside time each day for cooking.
