Jae Posadas
After School Community Enrichment Coordinator
The purpose of the Spring Valley Elementary School After School Community Enrichment (ACE) program is to help Spring Valley students become more well–rounded individuals. While academic achievement is extremely important, but it is not the only goal of this program. Every day, participants complete homework and are exposed to new and challenging experience through enrichment activities. Youth learn how to better interact with one another by participating in various enrichment activities ranging from art to sports.
The Spring Valley’s ACE program is open to teacher–recommended (Spring Valley students) in grades K-5.
It starts in mid-September and goes until late–May or early–June. The exact starting dates change each year, but it usually begins by mid–September. The program runs on a daily basis (Monday – Friday) from 2:40p.m. – 5:40p.m. with a few exceptions for holidays and professional development.
The program is located in Spring Valley Elementary School. Room 22 is a designated ACE space; the program’s spaces are classrooms that are shared with generous, regular school day teachers.

What are some of your program's challenges and successes?
A recent challenge our program has faced is the bus pick-up time. We
Have been used to it picking up later and are still adjusting to less enrichment time for some of our participants. The biggest challenge to overcome is the amount of program time we have, there's never enough! The program is popular among school students and parents. We have a waiting list each year for prospective participants who would like to join the program. Our staff is of the highest quality and has been consistent over the past two years.
