John Yehall Chin Elementary School ACE
Young Kim
After School Community Enrichment Site Coordinator
The purpose of the John Yehall Chin Elementary School After School Community Enrichment (ACE) program is to advise children to believe in themselves, and provide opportunities for academic enrichment and personal reflection. The program’s basic structure consists of enrichment, recreation, and homework help. For enrichment, participants work on several long term projects and have taken several field trips. For example, participants learned a lot and had a lot of fun when they visited the Exploratorium and helped their community by planting flowers at Portsmouth Square Park.
John Yehall Chin ACE is run and supported by the Chinatown Beacon Center and funded in large part by the Expanded Collaboratives for Excellence in Learning (ExCEL) program at San Francisco School Health Department. Participants are boys and girls in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade at John Yehall Chin Elementary School. The program is located on the third floor of John Yehall Chin Elementary School. Program begins at 3:35 p.m. and ends at 6:00p.m., Monday through Friday during the school year.
